Person practising Bharadvaja's Twist seated on the floor with both legs folded to one side and torso turning gently.

Bharadvaja’s Twist

Bharadvajasana

Bharadvaja's Twist is a grounded seated twist with both legs folded to one side. It gives you a manageable way to practise spinal rotation without forcing a large range, and it can be made much more comfortable with a blanket or block under the sitting bones.

Low Lunge Twist

Parivrtta Anjaneyasana

Low Lunge Twist combines a lunge with a gentle rotation through the spine. It can help you organise the legs, steady the pelvis, and explore twisting without needing a very deep range.

Person lying on the back in Figure Four Stretch with one ankle crossed over the opposite thigh and hands holding behind the lower leg.

Figure Four Stretch

Sucirandhrasana

Figure Four Stretch is a simple reclined hip opener that works into the outer hip and glute area without asking much from balance. The floor supports the spine, which makes it easier to notice how much effort you actually need.

Practitioner in Bound Side Angle Pose with front knee bent, torso turned open, and hands clasped around the front thigh.

Bound Side Angle Pose

Baddha Utthita Parsvakonasana

Bound Side Angle Pose combines the legs of Side Angle with a shoulder bind around the front thigh. It asks for steadiness in the feet and legs, space through the chest, and enough hip and shoulder mobility to keep the shape broad rather than cramped.

Meet your yoga teacher

Namaste, I am Yogita.

Yoga entered my life early, through the daily practice I saw in my own family. LearnYoga.net is where I share that practice in a way that is visual, practical and welcoming to people who are still finding their feet.
